Plant explosion injury settlement

Our client was a contractor at a Louisiana paper mill on the date of a tragic and preventable explosion.

Two workers were welding on the outside of a chemical tank when a spark ignited the gas that was in the tank, causing the tank to fly through the air.

Our client, standing over 200 feet from the tank, heard the explosion and immediately took cover in his truck.  The tank flew over his truck, splattering it with debris and the blood of other workers. Two men died as a result of the explosion.  Our client lost hearing in his left ear.

The Amaro Law Firm worked with our Louisiana co-counsel to get our client the justice he deserved.  We discovered that the mill operators had not maintained the tank of highly flammable liquid and gas. The explosion was 100% preventable had the operators been more careful. Our litigation team also found out that no safety equipment or hearing protective equipment had been provided to our client before the explosion.

After mediation with a Louisiana federal magistrate judge, and we were able to reach a confidential and significant settlement for our client.
