Police officer distracted on computer causes major car wreck

Our clients were attempting to exit the freeway in Harris County, when an on-duty police officer smashed into the rear of their car. Our clients’ vehicle was crushed like a tin can. The husband suffered broken ribs, and he ultimately had to have his spleen removed. The wife sustained horrific facial injuries and a broken arm.

The police officer admitted that he was using his in-cruiser computer right before the wreck, but the government refused to pay for the injuries its employee caused. Our injury attorneys filed a lawsuit in Harris, County to hold the government accountable.

We pushed in litigation and made it clear to the government understand that we would not stop until we got our clients full justice. After eight months of weekly contact with the government attorneys, our clients received the maximum settlement allowed by a government entity.

Our injury lawyer team did not stop with the government’s settlement. We continued fighting for our clients with their own underinsured motorist insurance. The insurance adjuster saw our clients’ injuries for the value they were worth and we recovered the full policy limits for both clients which was very substantial.
