Matt Elwell handles a variety of personal injury matters, including motor vehicle and trucking accident cases, work injuries, brain injuries, wrongful death cases, oil field injuries, and many other civil litigation cases for the firm. Matt represents clients all over Texas by way of his license to practice law in the State of Texas as well as the Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Western Federal Districts of Texas.

Matt Elwell is an East Texas native, born in Longview and raised in the small town of Greenville. He’s been a Houston resident since 2009 and recently put down roots in Houston’s Heights neighborhood.

Prior to becoming an associate at the Amaro Law Firm, Matt Elwell worked as an attorney at a Houston-based Criminal Defense firm for over two years. His time in criminal defense allowed him to sharpen his litigation techniques. It can take years for a civil lawyer to get half the amount of courtroom and trial experience Matt Elwell received during his time as a criminal defense attorney. Prior to that, Mr. Elwell worked at a boutique downtown civil firm. There, he was able to handle a range of legal matters such as personal injury, Texas Deceptive Trade Practices cases, and other civil litigation matters. Mr. Elwell firmly believes clients deserve someone who is willing to fight for their rights and obtain their rightful compensation.

Matt is a cum laude graduate of Texas State University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Business Administration. Mr. Elwell then graduated from South Texas College of Law in the top quarter of his class. In law school, he participated in South Texas College of Law’s moot court and mock trial programs.

In his spare time, Matt Elwell enjoys being outdoors – whether it’s golfing, fishing, or hunting. Mr. Elwell thoroughly enjoys watching baseball and football. . In the fall, you can catch Mr. Elwell watching the Dallas Cowboys and hoping for another Super Bowl in his lifetime.
