18-Wheeler Rear End

Our client, who was a truck driver by trade, was a front seat passenger in a standard sedan when an 18-wheeler petroleum tanker failed to control its speed while merging onto Beltway 8 in Houston.  The collision spun our client’s vehicle into a partition and left him severely injured.

Our previously healthy, active client sustained significant herniations in his cervical spine, and underwent a two-level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion at the C5-C6 and C6-C7 levels.

The Amaro Law Firm discovered that the driver of the 18-wheeler had a criminal record, was a registered sex offender, and had a previous DUI charge.  Our attorneys further discovered that aside from its negligent hiring practices, the trucking company had a significant history of violations recorded by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration which included four reportable crashes and multiple brake failures. Our attorneys highlighted the significant deviations from the standard of care made by the truck driver and the trucking company.  Our trucking lawyers were able to obtain a significant and confidential settlement after mediation.
