Steven Hooker was born and raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from Spring Woods High School in 2007. While there, Steven was a member of the National Honor Society and a varsity letter winner all four years in baseball. Following his senior season, Steven was awarded All Greater Houston honors as a pitcher. Steven then attended Texas A&M – Kingsville on a baseball scholarship from 2007-09 and helped the team win the Lone Star Conference tournament his freshman season. While at Texas A&M – Kingsville, Steven also received Academic All-Conference honors. Upon completion of the 2008-09 baseball season, Steven hung up his baseball cleats in favor of increased focus on academics and gaining entry to law school. Steven ultimately completed his undergraduate work in 2011 at the University of Houston, graduating cum laude with degree in Psychology.

In 2011, Steven began legal coursework at Texas Tech School of Law on an academic scholarship. While in law school, Steven received a distinction award in trial advocacy and participated in numerous advocacy competitions, including mock trial and negotiations. Steven proved to have a particular affinity for negotiations, and was a finalist in this competition multiple times. Steven also clerked for a prominent Plaintiff’s personal injury firm in Lubbock during his second and third years of law school, which initially piqued his interest in this area of law. Steven ultimately earned his Juris Doctorate in 2014 from Texas Tech and passed the Texas State Bar exam in October of 2014, his first attempt.

Steven’s first role as an attorney was with a personal injury defense firm in Lubbock, which allowed him to see how injured people are taken advantage of by big insurance. Finding this initial career path deeply unsatisfying, Steven then joined with a well-known Plaintiff’s firm in Central Texas in 2015 – where he represented injured people for nearly a decade and operated as a first chair trial lawyer for majority of that time. During that tenure, Steven also mentored many young attorneys and exited the firm holding the dual roles of Attorney Team Lead and Partner. Steven joined the Amaro firm in June of 2025 as a Managing Attorney, where he now represents injured parties and assists in the development of younger lawyers.

Steven’s dedication to his clients and his profession have earned him numerous accolades, including Thompson Reuters’ Super Lawyers “Rising Star” award from 2020-25.

Outside the office, Steven enjoys reading, lifting weights, fishing, poker, frisbee golf, periodic hunting trips and actively seeking out new experiences through travel. Steven and his wife, Bianca, currently live in College Station, Texas and share two children: Nolan and Natalie.  On the weekends, you will likely catch the family cheering on the Houston Astros if not otherwise engaged in some outdoor activity.
