Roof & Interior Damage
Storms cause damages to roofs, siding, fences, and the interior of residential and commercial property. When storms are combined with heavy rain, it can cause serious damage both the roof and to the interior of the property. Something as simple as a damaged shingle may allow water to seep through the roof causing additional damage to the property such as:
- – Ceiling
- – Painting
- – Walls
- – Flooring
- – Electrical, HVAC and Plumbing System
- – Furniture and/or equipment
- – Fixtures
- – Other personal effects, among others
When this happens, you expect your insurance company to hold up to their end of their bargain, especially if you have been a responsible policyholder that month after month has been paying premiums on time. Unfortunately, insurance companies are known to deny, underpay or delay valid claims and your case may be no different.
The most common tactics that insurance companies will employ when dealing with roof and/or interior damage is that there is an error on the claim, investigations discredited the claim, the damages are not covered by the policy, the damage was pre-existing or not caused by the claimed event, or that the policyholder has breached a provision in the contract, among others.
