Hours: Mondays to Sundays, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., with different hours for specific park attractions
Closures: Hermann Park is open all year, with reduced hours during winter and most attractions are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
What to Expect: You’ll find nearly endless opportunities for outdoor adventure and family-friendly entertainment at Hermann Park. As one of the oldest parks in Houston, Hermann Park has a rich history and several attractions, spanning roughly 445 verdant acres where natural beauty meets perfectly manicured landscapes. Some of Hermann Park’s attractions include a beautiful rose garden, a butterfly exhibit, a golf course, a jogging track, picnic spaces, a museum, and even an open-air theater. Memorial Park

What to Expect: Extending about 1,500 acres, Memorial Park offers a unique blend of history, sport, and nature, providing expansive jogging trails throughout an area used to train WWI troops more than a century ago. Complementing these trails and the lush scenery bordering them are biking trails, tennis courts, sports fields, a swimming pool, a golf course, skate areas, and more. Depending on when you visit Memorial Park, you may run into other fun to do, like grabbing a bite from a local food truck or participating in a 5k to support a good cause.
Sam Houston Park
Where: 1000 Bagby Street (Downtown Houston)
Hours: Mondays to Sundays, sunrise to sunset

What to Expect: As one of the city’s smaller but no less cherished parks, Sam Houston Park is a 20-acre green space that’s both a City of Houston Protected Landmark and a State of Texas Historical Site. Nestled between high-rises, busy streets, and glittering city lights, Sam Houston Park offers both a breath of fresh air and a step back into the past within a bustling cityscape. Along with its vintage landscaping, Sam Houston Park is home to The Heritage Society, as well as historic homes like the Fourth Ward Cottage, Yates House, and the Staiti House.
Buffalo Bayou Park

What to Expect: Covering roughly 160 acres, Buffalo Bayou Park is a sprawling, lush space where you can be active, creative, social, and engaged all year round. If you like exercising surrounded by beautiful gardens and gorgeous greens of nature, you’ll enjoy Buffalo Bayou Park’s many hiking and biking trails. Those who prefer the water can go boating or paddleboarding. And if you want to bring your dog, no problem — Buffalo Bayou Park has one of the best dog parks in Houston.
