GRAND PRIX OF HOUSTON CRASH INJURES 15 – According to reports, the driver of an IndyCar is still in the hospital after a crash at Grand Prix of Houston on October 6, 2013.  Sources say the driver’s IndyCar launched over another car, crashed into the fence, and injured several spectators due to flying debris.

Eyewitnesses say that some spectators were trapped under pieces of fence that flew into the stands, and others were bleeding as they left the stands.  Reportedly, of the 13 spectators injured, 11 were treated at the scene but two were taken to the hospital, along with the injured driver and an injured official.

Officials are investigating the accident and plan to provide further details as they become available.  According to officials, the driver is in fair condition after having suffered a concussion, spinal fracture, and right ankle fracture.
