Formed from natural subterranean springs and once believed to possess healing powers, Barton Springs Pool can offer some lovely respite from hot Austin summers. Notably, the Springs are also a federally protected habitat because it’s home to the endangered Barton Springs Salamander.

The pool is generally open daily, with periodic closures for cleaning, weather events, etc. While there is a $9 admission fee from April through September, admission is free from October through March. Shuttle service is available year-round.

4. See a Comedy Show at Esther’s Follies
